our history


Jerusalem Foods began with the vision of founder Albert Batshon, who owned and operated the highly successful Falafil Palace restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Along with the popularity of his restaurant, came recognition of an unmet consumer demand for wholesome foods (such as falafil) that were not readily available in the marketplace.

So, in 1976, Albert established Jerusalem Foods, expanded his product line to meet this demand, and his restaurant based production company grew into a 2,000 sq ft facility located in Westland, Michigan.  His business and reputation grew, and in 1988 Jerusalem Foods moved to a 15,000 sq ft facility in Redford, Michigan, followed in 2003 by a move to a 70,000 sq ft facility in Dearborn, Michigan.

 Today, Albert’s vision and success is carried into the future by his sons, Sam and Ron Batshon, who continue to operate with pride the family-owned business started 40 years ago by their father.
